Summer Fishing
Did a little summer fishing last week at 1st dam in Logan Canyon, used hamburger for bate and caught a couple, but they were too small to keep. Then about two days later we went back up there and fished just above the dam. I caught a nice sized Rainbow and decided to keep it for a fish dinner. We cooked it the next morning for breakfast but it tasted so mossy that we couldn't eat it. The water in the dam is to Stagnant and the fish are bottom feeding to stay in the cool water. What happens is they eat too much moss and end up tasting like the bottom of the dam. This is why I don't care for fishing in the heat of the summer. However if it is a high mountain lake or a cold fast moving stream the fish are more active and taste better if you should choose to have a fish fry. Good Fishing

Low water and small fish
Greetings all
Here it is mid May and I have been driving the canyons of Cache Valley only to find that the water level is much lower than it should be this time of year. I happened to be up Blacksmith Fork Canyon the other day and the fish are jumping, most of them looked smaller but there are a bunch of them.
Good fishing

My trip to Tabiona Utah
Hello all - We made a trip to visit my brother J.C. in Tabiona, Utah and along the way we drove past Jordanelle Reservoir, Echo Reservoir, and Strawberry Reservoir. Echo and Jordanelle are very low, in-fact they look like end of Summer low. Strawberry still had ice on it but the ice was away from the shore by 10 to 20 feet from what I could see. I know that we will get several high country snow storms but I don't believe that it will be enough to fill these reservoirs. The fishing is fair to good in the areas where you could fish, so good luck this season. Good Fishing

Greetings to all my fishing friends. Hope you enjoyed the pictures I posted last.
The weather today is rainy and cool. It's going to be like this off and on all week. The water will be a little cloudy and the feed will be washed down into the stream so the fish will be feeding. I imagine that they are hungry after the winter when the feed is hard to find. The fishing will be best at Hyrum Reservoir all other locations in Cache Valley are only rated as fair. Follow this link to check out other locations in Utah. Good Fishing

A Sunday drive in the canyon
Greetings all Below are photos of my Sunday drive I took with my daughter Jennifer. Jennifer is a good photographer so we took a few pics of our drive. I hope you enjoy them. (1). This is a panoramic of Hyrum Dam. There were a few fisherman and in talking with one of them the fishing at Hyrum Dam is fair. (2). The second photo is Blacksmith Fork River. The water seems a little low for this time of year and there was no one fishing the river. However the water looked good for fishing. (3). Is looking down the canyon and (4). Is lookind down Blacksmith Fork Canyon across the river. (5), (6), and (7), are of Hyrum Dam. Better run, hope you enjoy the pics.

The Ice is leaving Mantua reservoir
Drove past Mantua in Northern Utah and the ice is very thin and dangerous. I have heard that Hyrum, Porcupine and other lakes are loosing their ice as well. The fish are hungry and thin but still are fun to catch and release. Here is a link to check the latest fishing conditions in Utah. Have fun and stay safe
